Safe Vegetables
These vegetables are generally safe and nutritious for most pet birds. Wash thoroughly and serve fresh.

Excellent source of vitamins A, C, and K. Serve raw or lightly steamed. Most birds enjoy the florets and stems.

Kale, spinach, Swiss chard, and romaine are excellent. Rich in iron and vitamins. Spinach in very large amounts may bind calcium โ vary the greens.

All colors are safe and loved by most birds. High in vitamin C. Seeds are also safe unlike other pepper seeds.

Fresh or frozen corn kernels are a favorite treat. High in carbohydrates so offer in moderation as part of a varied diet.

Hydrating and mild. Most birds enjoy the seeds and flesh. Low in nutrients but a great water-rich treat especially in hot weather.

Plain cooked grains, rice, and pasta are safe. Never feed anything cooked with salt, butter, oils, spices, or seasonings of any kind.

Unsalted, unroasted peanuts are safe in moderation. Peanuts can harbor aflatoxin mold if stored poorly โ buy from reputable bird-safe sources only.

Coffee, tea, cola, and energy drinks are all dangerous. Caffeine causes rapid heart rate, arrhythmia, and can be fatal to birds.

Extremely toxic to birds. Even a few drops can cause severe liver damage, neurological issues, and death. Never leave drinks unattended around birds.

Salt disrupts electrolyte balance and kidney function in birds. Avoid chips, crackers, pretzels, or any salted human snacks entirely.

An artificial sweetener found in sugar-free gum, candy, and some peanut butters. Highly toxic โ causes dangerous drops in blood sugar.

Apple Seeds & Fruit Pits
Seeds from apples, pears, cherries, peaches, and plums contain cyanide compounds. Always remove pits and seeds before offering these fruits.
๐ Additional note: We use cactus and cactus pears often especially during breeding season due to it's high water and calcium content. That said some places list is as not preferable for some species of birds due to high water and fiber content.
